Sri Lankan government sold prostitutes from China and Russia to pass budget

During the past years the government auctioned prostitutes from China and Russia in Parliament to get the budget proposals passed, then the Parliament was similar to a ‘New Year sale joint’ and he would not be embarrassed to reveal it now said Minister Dulles Alahapperuma.

Speaking at a press conference held today (1st) Minister Alahapperuma said, “As Parliamentarians we are not embarrassed to reveal these things. During months of November in past several years the Parliament was like a ‘sale place.’ Like New Year sale or Christmas sale we had ‘Diyawanna sale.’ Everything was on sale there. Dollars were traded. Agents from embassies went to and from. Everything happened there.

Prostitutes from China and Russia too have been sold at ‘Diyawanna sale’ during 2008 budget. That is how we had to protect our power,” said Minister Dulles Alahapperuma.

  1. Rajapakse is not ready to give any values for Human Rights nor Media Freedom. He is trying to Make Srilanka a Sinhalese only Nation. The Western countries are giving pressure but SL is not ready to listen to West because Rajapakse Government work for India, China and Iran. Hope the West will come with a solution for Tamils before Sinhalese nation become like Iran and China or else Srilanka will be another threat for Tamils and the West.

  2. Tamil have been the subject of persecution, discrimination and human rights abuses at the hands of successive Sri Lankan governments. It is up to the international community to play a more productive role in ensuring that the legitimate grievances of the Tamil people are addressed through peaceful negotiations.

  3. Abduction, disappearances, arbitrary arrests, attacks, harassment, rapes, and other form of enforced violence are still widely taking place against Tamils in Sri Lanka. Independent media and aid workers are still being systematically targeted by the state and its armed forces. Tamil people are fleeing the country in large numbers through whatever means available to them to escape these types of enforced ill treatments by the Sri Lankan authority.
If Sri Lanka has any appreciation for international norms and democracy, then it must fully believe that international assistance for economic development and the global financial aid would only become available through the respect for international law and norms: it must believe in the liberty of the individual and the freedom of expression and association where the individual's inalienable right to participate by means of free and democratic political processes is protected; it must recognise the evils of racial prejudice and intolerance which pose threat to the healthy development of a society without racial discrimination and it must allow unobstructed economic and social development to satisfy the basic needs and aspirations of all segments of the society without discrimination.

  4. It is important for the international community, especially Western states known for its firm stands on human rights for all the people of the world must pursue Sri Lanka’s crimes against humanity, dire rights abuses and war crimes against its Tamil citizens to bring about the real reconciliation between Tamils and Sinhalese in Sri Lanka. Only then real negotiation can take place between Tamils and Sinhalese to find a negotiated solution based on equal rights and freedoms of Tamils.

The international custodians of the human rights, must unwaveringly and effectively use the all the available tools including slapping Sri Lanka with the suspension from Commonwealth and economical sanction to force Sri Lanka to comply with the core demands on the rights conventions of the International community.
